2013-02-19 SCENA: CHARKÓWThe band assembled at the beginning of 2012, in the wintertime, being transformed of previously named [vide supra] collective and included past and current (by the time) members of [esokhôra] with marvellous supplement of 2 enchanting violin players - that was what band core members had been dreaming of from the very first days they met each other. The word [hurtovyna] itself is translated from Ukrainian as snowfall or blizzard, and the naming has roots in a tremendous inner feeling that we share concerning music - both listening and performing as well, and in atmosphere that we are intending to recreate by exposing our inward experience. We consider music as a game, we love to play music as kids playing games, cordially and dotingly, thus lots of improvisations take place during rehearsal time, and notwithstanding aesthetic tastes of every band member slightly varies - that yields rather to versatility of what comes to existence in form of partly abstract but vital soundscapes inhabited by subtle intuitive imagery, we believe. So many things around that fetch us an inspiration: we love the dramatic beauty of nature and overriding human emotions, mournful meditations and frabjous insights, and we're knit together by anxiety over what's happening in nowadays divergent world. Musically influenced by prominent Canadian post-rock scene, classical composers, early art-rock and krautrock bands and noir films we endeavour to bring out a species of soundtrack for which we provide self-made visual extension stalking along our live shows. We have recorded a demo and working on a full-length album at present time.
